Let me get one thing straingt: I LOVE the Digital Devil Saga story. I can't get it out of my head!

But the battle system is so f-ing retarded and imbalanced that I can't even find words to describe it.

My worst moments:

Having to fight the same boring, pathetic, half an hour long mid-boss three or four times in the first half of the game. The character is also very dislikable.

Fighting an easy but persistent boss for 45 minutes, winning with no problems, and then being pwned by a random monster on my way to the saving room.

Getting near the end of the game, gaining an ability that makes me immune to all elemental attacks, only to find out that the final instance didn't have any enemies using elemental attacks.


The scenery is also dead boring.

I find it funny how I first notice this reply now, posted exactly a year ago tomorrow :D
Anyway, it's pretty old, and I could've done a lot better today. Still suffer from the horrible memories of the horrid and unfair battle system in DDS. I suppose you do the same :)

I know what you mean. The story was so well written. I always ached to know what was gonna happen next, but it always required hours of experience grind and amazingly boring walking/puzzle solving until I was rewarded with the next cutscene.

Ended up just watching the final three cutscenes on Youtube.
